I grew up on a farm on the Welsh Borders. For my 16th birthday I received two pigs. However, a life of farming was not for me. I completed a Foundation Course in Art in my home city of Hereford and then graduated from Brighton University with a degree in Theatre with Visual Practice. Since then I have worked in TV, film and VFX.  Whenever I could, I squeezed in making art around my “proper job”.

In 2023 I moved to Broadstairs, Kent. As cliche as it is, this was my new chapter, my fresh, blank piece of paper. I decided to dedicate as much time as I could to painting.

When my daughter sleeps, I paint. Immersing myself back into a creative practice is bumpy. Some days I feel like this is where I was always supposed to be. Some days I feel like a complete failure. But it’s these layers, the iterations of paintings underneath paintings, the fuck ups and mistakes that feed into the finished piece.

I often paint without a plan or a set style and try to enjoy the freedom (and struggle) this brings. My work is bright, textured and gestural. I like to experiment with shape, mark making and collage. The environment around me, conversations, emotion and art are all constant sources of inspiration.
